The latest emerging young band from Ottawa who could have been a part of the 60's and
70's rock revolution can well be labeled a "renaissance" classic rock band by virtue of
their unique original music.
Their lyrics are inspired by writers and philosophers such as Kant,
Plato, Schopenahuer and Kerouac. Their music has roots in traditional blues
from John Lee Hooker and Howlking Wolf to BB King. And the influence of
classic rockers such as Led Zeppelin, Jimmy Hendrix, Jim Morrison and
other greats is apparent in their enthusiastic well-polished act and spontaneous style.
These talented young musicians have distilled the best in thought, word and sounds from
the greats of the past and melded them in to the present.
Reviews from peers and fans include,"Hey, I’ve heard about your type
of music, great stuff" to comments from the organizers of the Bluesfest
Battle of the Bands, "These guys are slated for the main stage of Bluesfest
in the near future”.
Their stage presence is marked not by a contrived imagery but by a strong
exuberant spirit that says “We're here, and we're here to tell a story
through music” Their music spans a plethora of emotions and rhythms from
pure classic rock to reggae and Eastern inspired tunes to soulful blues
ballads. The lyrics are thought provoking and transcend the scope of musical art that
has characterized young music of late.
BOBCAT GRAY delivers both intelligence and music that brings out the spirit that
characterized the greats of classic rock. They truly are a "renaissance
Classic rock Band," however, they are not limited by categorization or
labels.
Greg Pilon is the lead vocalist, songwriter, producer, bandleader and lead guitarist, Dan
Egar is on drums and Pat Murphy is on electric bass.
In the short time they have performed as a band, their combined total of 20 years of
music belies their short tenure as a group. When they won the coveted 2003 Bluesfest
Battle of the Bands they gave their public a preview of what potential lays ahead.
