The Magnolia Rhythm Kings' approach to Classic Jazz is traditional in form
and style but adventurous in repertoire like that of the original New Orleans
and Chicago musicians. From early street parade rhythms and low down blues
to the happy dancing sounds of the Jazz Age and subsequent revivals in California,
Europe and elsewhere,
the Rhythm Kings play it all, with enthusiasm,
energy and a love for the music.
The Magnolia Rhythm Kings feature:
Bob Misener, leader on banjo, piano and vocals
Don Paterson, trumpet and vocals
Dave Arthur, trombone and vocals
Don Cumming, clarinet, tenor sax and vocals
Sol Gunner, bass
Glenn Robb, drums
The Magnolia Rhythm Kings have played weekly to their loyal Ottawa fans for
many years as well as at festivals, jazz societies and other occasions. (receptions,
birthdays, weddings, anniversaries, etc).
