Hello BluesAndJazzGuy,

I am writing to let you know about an exciting new project. For folks who like to sing in a group but are looking for something a little more in the moment, I am starting Oya, an improvisational choir.

Working with various structural elements, we will create improvisational pieces that will allow people of various skill levels to work together, with the goal of performing this material in concert settings. We will work orally, primarily with the voice alone, although we may use other instruments from time to time.

Here are the details:

Oya: An Improvisational Choir

In my home in the Glebe Tuesdays, 7 to 9, starting January 24

In this choir we will explore vocal improvisation, shape this material into improvisational compositions and perform when we are ready.

There is no audition to join this choir. We will accommodate all levels of ability, both in singing and in improvisation skills. The only requirement is to be willing to experiment, learn by ear and commit to weekly practices.

Pre-register - maurav@magma.ca  or call   277.9208

I am also sending you a PDF poster for this new group Oya, as well as a poster for another class SfO, for beginning adults, in case you would like to mention that as well. In case you would like to know more about my background, I am including that below.

Thanks for helping me spread the word, and thanks for letting me know where to find the music every week.

Maura
